Is this why the king is bald? Is this where the witch created the curse? Where is she? Teddy sits on the bed reading Histories of Curses.
It says that the curse of the unhappy has never been successfully performed. However, they’re always breakable. Teddy declares, Those with mean spirits are supposed to be the ones who are turned into beasts. But every curse cast those who are hurting into beasts.
“So, it’s not a scratch or a bite like we thought? There really is something wrong with us. With me.” Emilia says. She curls into a ball as tears leak from her eyes.
Technically, those feelings have to be accompanied by a scratch or bite and the feelings have to be strong. Teddy looks up from the book to see Emilia curled up. So, Teddy moves over to pat and rub her fur coat, and it says: Don’t despair. I’ve spent a lot of time with humans. Everyone feels down every now and then.
“I turned Victor and Chloe! My parents hate me. I’m a waste of space.”
“Yes, you are!” Victor roars then dashes from the window landing on top of a fight less Emilia.
“Just kill me and get it over with.” Emilia squeezes her eyes tightly shut.
“Gladly.” Victor pounces off her then drags her by the ankle.
“Victor, I am sorry.” Emilia whimpers holding back her screams of pain. Victor releases Emilia.
“Sorry? You turned me to save yourself!”
“I’m sorry.”
Victor grips Emilia’s ankle again and throws her against the wall. He pounces on her sinking his teeth into her back. Emilia wails. Victor breaks wood on her back. When Emilia is unable to move, Victor scratches his nails against a rock until sparks fly out creating flames consuming the floor.
Teddy opens a green potion bottle and pours it onto Victor’s head as Victor jumps down from the treehouse. Victor only takes three steps away from the treehouse then collapses in a on the ground snoring.
The fire slowly spreads across the treehouse as Teddy searches the shelf filled with potions until Teddy finds: Healing Tonic. Teddy pours the medicine on Emilia’s wounds. She rises just as quickly as the fire claims the walls. With Teddy in her mouth, Emilia jumps out of the treehouse before the fire scorches her.
At the bottom of the tree, Teddy rides on Emilia’s back as she drags Victor as the flames spread from tree to tree. Emilia drags Victor along the river then carries him up the mountain. Halfway to the top, Emilia’s weak knees falter; she collapses. Victor’s body rolls onto the ground.
“I can’t even carry him back to the top.” Emilia says as she plants her butt firmly on the ground.
You are not useless. You saved him after he tried to kill you. Teddy points out.
“It’s the least I could’ve done since I turned him into beast, and you had to knock him out for me.” Emilia says. Victor stirs as his eyelids move.
Let’s get out of here before he wakes. Teddy suggests. Emilia forces herself to stand then slowly rushes away with Teddy on her back. Both Emilia and Teddy hide beneath a tree shivering and waiting.
I hate hearing you call yourself useless and talking down to yourself. Teddy says.
“I’m sorry.” Emilia whispers.
Do you know why I love you? Teddy’s question only makes Emilia shake her head, You have the greatest imagination I’ve ever seen. You know how to have fun. You’re kind and considerate.
“Everyone is kind and considerate.”
No, they’re really not. Some people only care about themselves. One of my owners liked to burn ants. She then tried to rule over a colony of ants taking away their queen. It may not seem like a big deal to you, but it was to those ants. Teddy looks at Emilia for a long time. I can tell you that I love you fifty times a day with hugs, but it won’t matter. What do you like about yourself?
Emilia thinks for a long time. She enjoys pretending like she’s in a different world. However, that’s nothing. Apparently, she’s not that good of a cook and lazy too. She’s also annoying; and her sisters will agree.
“I don’t know.”
